ASP Show The Australian Saddle Pony National Show 2004 was held at Castle Hill Showground - It was our first show for 2004. Lindy took 4 horses - Marena Windflower, Marena Skylights, Marena Blue Skies and Marena Sky Chief. They came home with 4 Champions and a Reserve.
Windflower and Skylights have won Champion Mare awards at this National show four times. But the best of all was Sky Chief showing and looking a Million Dollars at rising 21 years!
Chaconne won large Champion in 2001 and Reserve Champion last year as well. Clearance Sale - Spring 2003
ended on 31st January, 2004 Horses For Sale We still have horses to sell to reach our goal for our future reduced land holding. These will include lovely fillies, ponies from 12 hands and galloways. We also have two small, quality geldings that would suit Leading Rein for small children. Also a couple of Riding Pony colts that are sire material in good enough condition to show now. However, there are not so many geldings left. The foals by our Thoroughbred, Shifting continue to excite us with their kind natures and their classy good looks. The eldest are Yearlings . Upcoming Clearance - 2004 Show Horses For Sale Broodmares We have had lots of enquiries for broodmares and a few more will be released when their foals are weaned. See our Broodmares page. Marena Kanella has been sold to Queensland, however we have retained her filly foal by Cedar Lodge Conrad. Marena Kahli has also been sold, to Victoria - She foaled shortly after her arrival, a brown colt by Shifting.
Victorian News Mr Rowan Anderson of Victoria has rung to tell us that his 10 year old son, Luke Anderson has just broken-in Marena Amber Dream, the daughter of Grand National Champion Marena Amber Folly, owned by Trudi Jones of Victoria. .
Mr Anderson said, "She lived up her name,
she was indeed a Dream." Luke took her to a show to have a look around and
she behaved as though it was all in a day's work. Dream has gone home for
a spell now before she starts showing under saddle.
We are competing at Canberra Royal this year and, as usual, at Sydney with 10 horses and 6 pupils - it should be quite a challenge with a baby Luke crawling (or even walking) around! See right - We all know what Luke got for Christmas. Also Instruction Schools are planned for April & May - See Upcoming events.
I did not realise how hard babies have to
work to learn all about the world and do the things we take for granted.
But Luke is one determined boy and if he fails he just keeps on trying - There
seems to be a lesson there.
Luke is pictured at top left in the garden with Lindy at 5 months and at top right at 7 months, enjoying his first solids.
Left - Luke trying to "Catch the Stars" in a bowl of water at Christmas time. Right - Lee Stevens and Luke 7 ½ months on the top rail of the fence watching Lindy breaking in some youngsters.
Our Plans for the Future Because of our changed family circumstances we will be still breeding horses but in less numbers than before, and selling the progeny as young ones rather than keeping them on and breaking & training them as in the past.
Our Stallions will still stand to the Public and our Riding Tuition, Schools and Horsemanship Classes will continue as usual. Quote of the Month - Merit is like oil, it always comes out on top.
Kindest regards & good luck with your horses |
