Marena on the Move
Much has happen since we last talked. Our property at 336 Yarramalong
Road, Wyong has been sold and we are moving to a smaller property. We have
not found a suitable place yet but we are hoping to stay close to our present
position as we do not want to move out of the district.
As our future is uncertain at
present we are going to sell or lease most of our horses. We have been breeding
horses for over 50 years and do not want to lose those precious mares and
fillies so we would happily consider leasing some to suitable homes or in
partnership with other breeders. Circumstances have made it necessary to reduce
our horses to a bare minimum with no certainty about where we are going.
As part of our scale down, were are putting more horses up

We have just leased Marena
Amber Wish to Ben & Megan Drynan. Many show people will remember her as
Megan Frost when she was a little blonde girl riding in Queensland. In those
days she would get on an overnight bus and come down to us for a few days of
Megan has kept in touch with us over the years and it is wonderful to
see her little girl Charlotte (pictured at left after a successful day) following in her mother’s footsteps and
enjoying her riding and Shows.
We are thrilled that Marena Amber Wish is
going to such a good home for them to show and we will have her back to breed
from in the future.

As many of you know Bruce
was in Gosford Hospital with pneumonia and heart problems. It is contemplated
that he will have to have an operation, so our future is very uncertain. The
family and I wish to thanks all the people who have sent us messages and kind
words of encouragement; it has meant a great deal to Bruce and all of us.
Our proposed trip on the
Russian Waterways had to be cancelled, it was fortunate that we were still in
Australia when Bruce became sick.
- Wednesday, 21st May was Bruce’s birthday and the family had a
lovely surprise when he was allowed to come home that afternoon. He has to take
things easy for a while and it is possible he may avoid surgery.
The Marena Team
attended as usual but I was not able to go with the Sale of our property
pending, so I missed Canberra for the first time. The Marena Team did us proud
and added to our totals with 4 more Champions.
Results – Supreme Led ASP
Exhibit & Champion Led Part Welsh Stallion Kolbeach Royal Print. Sandown
Musical Note won Reserve Champion Led ASP Mare for the Hooke Family. Kristie and Tamika were a great help and without anyone of our team
it would have been much harder task.
Bronte Talbot won the Child’s Show Hunter Galloway with Stillbrook
Dashing (picture on far right), there were plenty of other placings won by
all the team.
was trying in many ways
for us with Bruce and I both sick with a virus that seemed to be the beginning
of his troubles. Some horses also had a bit of bad luck and especially for the
Talbot Family when Bronte’s Galloway Stillbrook Dashing took sick. It was very
sad because, is spite of all the efforts made by everybody, Dash did not

is some very sad news for the horse world when on 9th May, good horse
rider Bronte Ross of Queensland, had an accident off a horse whilst working on a
cattle property and was air-lifted
to Toowoomba Hospital with serious head injuries. Bronte is now (27th May)
out of Intensive Care into High Care - she is awake, breathing on her own and
trying to mouth words - very encouraging progress. Our love and best wishes are
with the Ross Family.
Then on 22nd May much admired horseman Peter
Flynn lost his courageous fight with cancer. Our love goes to Kath and family at
this very sad time.
The Show goes on
- We will find a property for us all, where Lindy will carry on training
horses and riders and you will still see her at Shows competing with her
daughter Keeley. In the meantime Lindy is still giving lessons as
usual. Our Email Newsletters will keep you up with further
Established in 1957, Marena Stud

will still breed winning horses.
We love to hear from
you about our horses. Thank you for all the beautiful memories.
